Description

This 3 in. Ball Valve is made from Brass with a Sweat connection with a Class 600 pressure rating.

Ball Valves use a rotating hollow ball to control or stop fluid flow. Ball Valves are operated by a quarter turn of an actuator/handle. When the hollow bore in the ball aligns with the pipeline, it allows for fluid to flow through. When the valve handle is turned 90 degrees, the solid side of the ball faces the pipe, which blocks flow. A highly common and versatile valve type, Ball Valves are known for fast operation and excellent shutoff capabilities.

Sweat Soldering is a method of permanently joining components (typically copper or copper alloy). The process involves heating the outside of the fitting until it is hot enough to melt a solder material. This solder is melted into the joint, which creates a permanent, strong, and leak-proof seal upon cooling.

Brass is an alloy comprised of copper and zinc - often with other elements to modify its properties. Brass is resistant to corrosion and is highly malleable and workable, which makes it a common material for plumbing, pipeline, and marine components.

Applications of Ball Valves

  • On/Off Service
  • Chemical
  • Marine and Offshore Systems

Advantages of Sweat Soldering

  • Permanent and Leak-Proof
  • Strong Bond
  • Common for Copper Components

Advantages of Brass Components

  • Corrosion Resistant
  • Malleable and Workable
  • Low Friction
